One of the first things to go was the plastic intake manifold that comes stock on the Legacy GT. The replacement was sourced from the Impreza STi GDB E-revision, which bolted right up. This allowed for bolting on the AVO 400 L on the intake side of the turbocharger. An AVO 3" downpipe was fitted on the exhaust end of the turbo, along with an AVO 4 into 1 exhaust manifold.
After some tuning of the ECU via fitment of an AVO intercept-style SMT Subcom, the car ended up at around the 380hp mark, with a little bit in reserve. Not bad for a Legacy 2.0-liter turbo engine, which has a bit less aggressive cams than an STI.
This was enough grunt to seriously strain the standard 5-speed manual gearbox. The owner of the car then showed up with the latest bits to add to his car - a used 6-speed manual transmission sourced from the rare Legacy S401 built by STI! This was based on an earlier model of the Legacy than the current one. Once it was in place, the car was ready to go! It's a bit crazy now, and the owner is even a bit scared of it now!
