ImageOur travels actually started back at the office in Seattle, Washington, not far from the Subie magazine office. Well, relatively closer than the rest of you, being a mere 20 minute drive away. Ross Wilson (AVO Japan) and I (Paul, AVO USA) started off with a trip down to Rallitek in Portland, Oregon on Thursday morning. This leg of the trip was a mere 200 miles or so, a 3 hour drive in relative comfort. We went to Rallitek to pick up Sean Sexton's 08 WRX, which is sporting a smattering of AVO and Rallitek parts, along with a very nice Liberal bodykit from Japan.

Once we did arrive at Rallitek, we spent a bit of time installing some new parts on the car (newly redesigned BOV, some new silicone piping), fitted an AVO catback, and had Sean flash his car with the Accessport. Well, its not that it had not been flashed before, but that setup was for the high-octane available in Oregon. Now that we would be heading into the gasoline hellpit known as California, so we needed a map that would work down there.

At the end of the day, it was indeed the end of the day when we took off. We eased out of the Rallitek offices at 6pm, and started the bigger 900 mile trip down to Willow Springs Motorsport Park. Located near to LA (well, a lot nearer than Seattle), it sounds like it should be an interesting venue for this event. If we make it alive.

At the border between heaven and.. Kalifornia
At about 11pm, we found ourselves at a casino (I didn't mean it, I swear!), and we crashed for the night. We had covered another 200 miles, and only had about 1520340 more to go. Early morning saw us back on the road, and off through the passes. Eventually we found ourselves in California. I'm not exactly sure where we crossed over, but we did.

The burnt ground, random brushfires, and 1000's of black and white's hiding behind sagebrush was the biggest clue we were in California. The fact that the temperature suddenly went from 71 degrees to 104 degrees was a bit of a hint as well. Finally the air conditioning was put into play, and all was suddenly good again. Cruise control was set to stun, and eyes were peeled for suspicous blokes pointing radar guns at us.

Finally, we find ourselves somewhere near the raceway. I think. It is somewhere withing 100 miles, so I am confident we shall arrive some time tomorrow. The only problem is the 4320 bugs now attached to the front of the car, which shall be interesting to remove...

We were... somewhere. I blame the Red Sox.
