ImageAnother year has passed and off to Heathcote Park Raceway again for the annual LS1 Nationals.  With plenty of Holden Lions roaring and ready to go. We had journeyed there to release the freshly tuned VX Twin Turbo Beast with a low boost tune of 10psi, putting out a massive 430 rwkw on the dyno.  On the high boost tune of 13.5psi, it made an even bigger number of 475 rwkw on the dyno. We were also unleashing the new VE SSV AVO Ute for a stock run to see what the vehicle could produce.

First run of the day with Jake behind the wheel, we pulled out an 11.62 ET @ 124MPH.  Jake came back into the pits complaining of what he thought was a miss or something like that and that he backed off at ¾ track.  Up come the bonnet and in came the elbow grease, after a couple of hours of tinkering and testing we worked out that one of the coils had short circuited.  We quickly replaced it and the car instantly ran smoothly on 8 cylinders again, so off for another run to see what could be achieved.

The second run was a great start, well and truly getting away from the car beside him until Jake had troubles engaging 3rd gear.  He just rolled the rest of the way over the line and was annoyed at himself for making a mistake.  He lined up again for another run straight away, launched well again but the samething happened. On the way back into the pits Jake couldn't get it into 3rd at all with lots of crunching, obviously a gearbox problem.  So a blown gearbox pretty much ended the day but not without a couple of runs in the AVO VE SSV Ute.  The first run showed a 15.7 ET and the second with a 14.7 ET @ 101MPH.  I would like to give Cranbourne Holden a plug for the great price and advice when we purchased the AVO Ute.  For a good deal you should contact them and speak to Damien Muldridge – just mention the AVO ute.

So after all the hassles of the day it was good to get out there for a bit of dragging......  Stay tuned, we will get the gearbox repaired and will be back out there shortly.
